Meet the team

The team here at Rhona McCallum Hairdressing recently got together for a training session and felt it would be a good idea to share some info about us all, things we love about hairdressing and the reasons we love Alloa.

As we have been a part of Alloa’s business community for over 32 years, we thought you might be interested to know a little bit more about us all.

RHONA – Director / Owner 

Rhona says: “I love seeing the progress of our team as they learn and grow. From when they leave school, joining us here at the salon and starting to gain confidence in becoming great stylists on the salon floor, cutting, colouring and styling hair.

I really like the fact that Alloa still has free parking, so much better than other towns and cities that charge ridiculous amounts of money for you to park your car. It’s a traditional thriving little town, with a market day, and also, there are flowers pots and baskets everywhere. Which make the town look so pretty. The people of Alloa are very friendly & down to earth. 

At the weekends, when I get chance, I’ll switch off from work. I love to cook, spend time with the family, go for long long walks and of course, stopping off for lunch along the way”.


FLORENCE – Creative Director

Florence says: “I absolutely love creating natural blondes & beachy inspired hair, think of Australian vibes but in our town of Alloa. I also enjoy giving people a confidence boost whilst they are sat in my chair, there is no better feeling than seeing a client happy with their new hair-do.

What I like about Alloa is everything I need is on my doorstep, that means I don’t have to go to a city to go shopping, there are so many different, interesting little shops here.

Something you might not know about me, I actually worked in a salon in Dubai for 6 months in 2016, I have to say that I loved the experience, if you have ever been to Dubai, you will know why, it’s such an exciting place”.

GILLIAN – Senior Stylist

Gillian says: “Personally, I love all aspect of hairdressing but particularly cutting and, when I am given the opportunity, there is simply nothing better and more rewarding than restyling a clients hair.

I love how central Alloa is, It’s so easy to get to places in central Scotland, nowhere takes too long to get to, and it is also very easy for our clients to travel to. 

On my days off I love to take my little girl Beth and  my dog Max on long walks, the scenery and hills around Alloa are just spectacular and there are so many interesting places to head out to.

LUCY – Graduate Stylist

Lucy Says: “I love styling hair with beautiful waves & curls and seeing how the end result comes together after I’ve coloured it, styling waves and curls always gives me a great sense of achievement.

What I really like about Alloa is we have loads of supermarkets to choose from. Everything is on our doorstep, and as crazy as it seems, I do love a trip to the supermarket.

I have 2 puppy dogs, both gorgeous boys, Boux & Bix. They are Jackawawas, not many people know what breed that is, sometimes they are called ‘Jack Chi’ and they are a designer cross breed of Chihuahua and Jack Russell.

MADISON – Junior Stylist 

Madison says: “I love learning and helping our stylists in the salon with their clients hair journey, and I also get a real buzz when I am involved with the transformations the stylists create. 

I was born & brought up in Clackmannanshire, and Alloa is so easy for me to get to work. All my friends and family live in and around Alloa, it’s really great having everyone so close by.

At the weekends, ask anyone who knows me,  I like spending my free time chilling and watching films, there’s nothing better than watching a good blockbuster or rom-com”.


SOPHIE – Junior Apprentice 

Sophie says: “I love getting hands on when training and helping our stylist in the salon daily, I’m pleased to say that I am learning new skills every day, and I am really enjoying learning more and more about hairdressing.

I like the fact that Alloa has its own train station as this makes it so easy to get into the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, sometime I like to visit and see what’s going on, do some shopping and enjoy the buzz of city life.

I like spending time with my friends and family at the weekends. After the weeks work has been done it’s always nice to do stuff with everyone and recharge my batteries ready for the following week”.
