Hair Trends Spring 2023
HOT OFF THE PRESS: side partings and fringes for spring 2023
It’s big news for spring, the side parting is making a return to the high fashion stakes and fringes are going to be very on trend.
Our industry bible, ‘Hairdressers Journal’ has reported that online searches for ‘side partings’ has increased by 90% since the start of the year.
London celebrity stylists Neal and Wolfe say “side swept hair and the side fringe are some of the biggest trends of the century and in 2023, the style is being modernised with less structure and added texture to give more flow and bounce for that ‘I woke up like this’ look.
Maya Jama and Florence Pugh are paving the way for more contemporary takes on the style. Side swept hair, partings and fringes work well with a variety of popular trends from relaxed bouncy face-framing layers to slick-back updos”.
Deep, low side partings are perfect for those of us who like to wear hair consistently to one side of the face, middling side partings are for those of us who have been used to centre partings and don’t want to go too far away from something we feel comfortable with.
Side partings and fringes:
Full fringes that skirt around eye level are best suited to bobs and shorter pixie styles as they can make hair look thicker and fuller, creating the illusion of thicker hair and they will frame the face perfectly. Longer hair suits longer fringes (bangs) that are cheek bone length or just below the ear, these help create a sense of volume.
Glamour magazine also state that fringes and side partings are going to be hot news this spring, with a big push toward shorter hairstyles in general.
